Cub Scout Summer Day Camp

Hello Campers!

Welcome to Belk Summer Camp, home of Cub Scout Summer Day Camp and Webelos Adventure Camp (WAC). The natural location of Camp provides a perfect setting for camping and adventure for your Cub Scouts and Webelos. The camp offers many program facilities including shooting sport areas for BB or pellet guns and archery, a forty-foot climbing tower, a twenty five meter swimming pool, many wooded campsites and a full service dining hall (air conditioning and coffee!!!)

We know that camp needs to be a safe and comfortable place for you and your scouts. While we are largely moved beyond COVID, your safety is always paramount in our planning and approach to camp. Belk Scout Camp continues to recover from the logging operation and pond reclamation of 2020. As camp heals it has opened spectacular new views of camp and new program opportunities. We have consolidated the program stations as much as we can to the front of camp to reduce travel times but increased free time for the Trading Post! The biggest change for the 2024 WAC program is the relocation of the Engineering Rockets station to the front of camp. Carnival, the evening program on day 2 of each session, has also been condensed this year to get everyone off to the showers and bed just a little bit earlier.

We are also committing additional resources this year to support our adult campers, including additional charging stations in the Dining Hall and Trading Post, where coffee will be available anytime the Trading Post is open. We are continuing to strive to improve the dining experience at camp with a focus on increased portion sizes for adult campers and staff. We learned many important lessons the last couple of years, and we are committed to preparing and planning for another safe and successful summer camping season.

The entire Belk Summer Camp staff are excited to hear the scouts sing and show their scout spirit. Countless adventures await the scouts as they explore new activities & skills and make memories that will last a lifetime. Each summer we are amazed at the stories that scouts and adults tell about their time at camp. Being challenged and stretched to learn in new ways through different experiences is an important part of the Scout program. We look forward to watching the scouts grow and learn again this summer.

Any Scouts and parents wishing to particiate must fill out the following annual health and medical records form and provide photo copy of their update to date medical insurance card. Please see link below for more details.

Looking forward to see you all at Summer camp this year!

MCC Pinewood Derby

Our event will be Saturday, March 16 on the campus of UNCC in the Cone University Center .

We will accept registrations until Thursday, March 14, so please spread the word to your Cub families!

Below is the tentative schedule of events (the Council site will be updated shortly and a note will be going out to all registered families):

  • SIGN UP CLOSES THURSDAY, March 14

  • Registration/weigh in starts Saturday 12 pm and closes at 5 pm. Review the guidelines carefully (available for download on the sign up link). Contact Rob with any logistical concerns. Racers must be in attendance to participate.

  • Parking: Info to come

  • RACING DETAILS:

    • Following successful completion of registration, rosters will be loaded/updated in the computer

    • Racing is tentatively set to start at 1 pm ... the track is 6 lanes, so each entry will have 6 races (one on each track)

    • We expect the qualifying Heats to last 90-120 minutes. This is dependent on the number of last-minute entries, so we ask that families stay and cheer on the other Cubs so they don’t miss their Heats.
